Toypunks Volume 1 examines the effect of Japanese toys, fashion and punk and the
relationships played off one another. For Hikaru Iwanaga of famed Japanese toy and clothing label Bounty Hunter, it was these American influences which would form the basis of
much of his success. It’s not uncommon for the Japanese to take something existing and classic, only to reinterpret, redesign and recreate to yield what is arguably a better
product. However with toys being a more subjective area of criticism, it seems as though the Japanese toy making industry have struck a popular chord with the world’s toy
population.
